I Don't Care What The Weather Man Says

Ferry Boat Inn Meet

After owning a folding camper for the last six years (until very recently), we watched the weather reports very closely when going away for the weekend, worrying about packing away the camper wet as it's difficult to dry out the camper at home. So much so that last year we only managed to get out with the DA four times.

Well, old habits die hard and even though we were now in our caravan we were still watching the weather like a hawk, hoping it wouldn't be wet. But why were we worrying? It didn't matter if it was wet when we packed away at the end of the weekend. We can just throw the awning over the washing line when we got home and let it dry in it's own time.

So despite the weather reports saying heavy rain most of the weekend we headed out to the Ferry Boat Inn and I'm glad we did, as it turned out to be a very relaxed and enjoyable weekend.

Friday evening setting up didn't take long with Nikki and the girls going to get the water while I finished sorting out the van, but before I could finish everything and think about dinner we were invited to join Roy and Lisa as they were having a barbeque. I could get use to this, getting a good feed up and not having to cook it first. After dinner Roy and I popped down to the pub for a quick drink or two and a chat.

Saturday most of us went down to the quay side and the kids had a crabbing competition to see who could catch the most crabs from the river in an hour. I helped little Holly and she caught 39, I was sure that I would win...errh I mean...I was sure that Holly would win. But Lauren and Jade won with a grand total 45 crabs, who would think that there would be so many crabs around the quay. Later on a few of the others had a communal barbeque, we had already eaten by then, so we chilled out at the van while the girls played.

In the evening Paul provided the entertainment in the form of a quiz. I'm no good at quizzes, but everyone seemed to find the questions almost impossible to answer, so much so that we abandoned the quiz. We were sitting with Tony and Pauline. Tony used our answer sheet to make a paper aeroplane and was throwing it at Holly. Before long there was paper aeroplanes of all kinds flying everywhere in the party gazebo.

Sunday we had a pub lunch before leaving. All in all this was a real chill out weekend and I hope the rest of the season brings moreof the same.
