Bassetts Farm Meet

4th - 6th Sep

We all arrived at Bassetts Farm on Friday evening to be met by Doug and Wendy who had kindly offered to open the site for Lee and Kate - a cunning ploy on Lee’s part so he didn’t have to do any actual Stewarding, surely not?! We all sat outside Duncan and Mo’s van (new members from France?!) chatting and putting the world to rights until quite late.

Saturday dawned bright and sunny, the wind had dropped so a group of us decided to go for a walk along the canal to Paper Mill Lock. The tea rooms were doing a roaring trade and all the cakes did look very tempting – Mo and Duncan had the largest cream scone I have ever seen!

Some of the group carried on a bit further to the pub (surprise!) then it is all a bit of a blur until the evening when we all sat outside Dave and Nikki’s awning for a Quiz, which I must admit to not winning (must have been the cider, for which I blame Andy Pretty – he’s a bad influence!) The awning had been enlarged by a couple of tarpaulins so we could all be under cover, not that it rained but it kept a bit of the warmth in.

Sunday was hot and sunny, as always when you have to go home, and quite a few of us went off fruit picking. There were lots of blackberries and loads of sloes (watch this space come Christmas for the Sloe Gin, if it lasts that long). We finally left about 4ish.
